Can I get overdraft protection?

Yes - overdraft protection is a service made available to all members. Overdraft protection uses an alternate account as a source of funds in case they are not available in the checking account to clear outstanding items. These accounts include share accounts and line of credit loans.

Overdraft privilege is also offered by the credit union, after meeting certain qualifications. If you should inadvertently overdraw your account, overdrafts can be covered up to your overdraft privilege limit. Should an item be paid in this manner, your account will be assessed a fee. A member must repay or cover an overdraft immediately and no later than 30 days or the courtesy pay may be removed.

JFCU may pay for an overdraft if a member has opted into Debit Card Overdraft (Reg E) or regular or regular overdraft protection, otherwise the overdraft amount would need to be paid by the member.

You can read more about our Courtesy Pay service here. For associated fees, please see our Fee Schedule.
